All-or-nothing crowdfunding: if the funding fails, you will be refunded.
PlasticTwist revaluates used plastic with tokens: on our platform, makers and artists can propose products made out of revaluated plastic, and citizens can vote for projects aiming to tackle plastic waste. All of this, with a single asset: the PlasticToken.
The PlasticTwist platform has already been built and it is
up and running. However, in order to officially launch this amazing
idea, we need funding to start. This is where you become the main actor
of this whole dream!
Visit our market: it is the place where anyone can buy, sell and auction recycled plastic products. Inscription is automatically made after registering into PlasticTwist and everyone is free to use the platform as a buyer, or as a seller, without restrictions.
Visit the marketplaceDid you know that on average a human eats a credit card of plastic each week? This is because our plastic waste is ending in our water supplies, oceans and food! Every day, the amount of plastics that ends in our oceans is increasing and we need to stop it. In the PlasticTwist platform we have created a unique market where users can trade their plastic waste, connect with other people who are also interested in defending the environment and teach them about plastic waste, all while having fun.
Inspired by the idea of circular economy, PlasticTwist aims at twisting the usage of plastic. PlasticTwist reintroduces value to plastic waste by assigning value in the platform’s native currency, the PlasticToken. The PlasticTokens cannot be exchanged into Euros or any other currency, thus creating a new economy, where plastic waste transforms in an asset. In other words, plastic doesn't become a waste and it is useful throughout its existance.
One of the key objectives of PlasticTwist is to foster and promote innovative projects regarding plastic waste. In fact, the Crowdsourcing tool crawls social media, searching for trends regarding plastic waste. PlasticTwist also acts a connection platform, where innovative projects can connect with citizens or other project to gather plastic or promote their mission. Finally, PlasticTwist is built using innovative technology.
The PlasticToken is the native currency of PlasticTwist. It can only be earned by recycling plastic, attending sponsored events and conferences, by playing the games on the platform and much more! They work with the PlasticWallet app and cannot be exchanged to Euros or any other currency. The PlasticTokens were created using Hyperledger Fabric and the security of the system is ensured using blockchain.

MedSOS will make use of the popularity of the Clean Up the Med campaign in order to inform, communicate and disseminate the PTwist platform, to demonstrate best case practices regarding sea plastic reuse in pre-selected cities and educate participants on the different types of existing plastics based on their collection during beach clean-ups, contact local community members who might act as local initiatives and potential actors in the platform and engage local community in the concept of circular economy.
The pilot partner of PlasticTwist in Greece is the Mediterranean SOS Network. We can be reached through info@medsos.gr.
The Dutch Pilot is aimed at making locally valuable and visible products and objects out of these waste streams - engaging local public in the process of recycling, rethinking, and making. As the throughput of plastic is highest at large corporates or institutions, we will focus on improving institutionalized procurement- and waste management systems, as we believe we can create maximum impact in terms of reduction and recycling plastics.
The pilot partners of PlasticTwist in the Netherlands are Ceci n’est pas une Holding, and Stichting Bluecity. We can be reached through info@playgroundplastic.eu.
Switzerland is with 700 kilograms per head “Top of Europe” in the production of waste per head. At the same time, there is – apart from recycling plastic bottles – so far no common plastic recycling system and Switzerland is still in the process of conceptualizing of a common plastic collection and recycling system. The Swiss pilot is thus aimed at prototyping recycling ecosystems systems that can serve as role model and inspiration for politicians and citizens alike.
The pilot partner of PlasticTwist in Switzerland is the Future Laboratory CreaLab at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU) with its FabLab Lucern.
The European Commission has addressed the transition to a circular economy as an important and pressing topic. In consequence, the commission has made an H2020 call for projects addressing this issue.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme under Grant Agreement No. 780121.
